TERMS


Heights House is a quiet, intimate, ADULT ONLY hotel in a neighborhood setting. To nurture that environment, we request that you respect these strict rules:



  • No children under the age of 18, including babies, are allowed on property at any time.

  • Professional & commercial photography, production shoots, use of the rooms for getting ready for a wedding and filming are not allowed on the property without prior written consent and an additional fee. Permits may also be required. No closed door filming allowed. In other words, you may not simply reserve a room for a photo shoot or filming. We are thrilled so many want to use our backdrop If you would like to book a suite for photography, getting ready for your wedding day onsite or something similar, it is REQUIRED you email our team prior to booking as additional pricing and a contract are required: events@heightshousenc.com. A liaison designated by Heights House will be assigned to monitor all photoshoots or filming. If Heights House is not made aware of this prior, guests may be charged additional fees at the hotel’s discretion. Additionally, if you are caught filming on the premises without prior approval, all material will be forfeited and guests may be asked to leave the property. We regulate this for many reasons but primarily so that we don't have multiple photoshoots happening during people's stays with us. It is intrusive to our guests and we are just trying to protect that.

  • All alcohol consumed or stored on property in our common areas MUST be purchased through Heights House. Guests may bring in their own alcohol but it must be kept/consumed in their rooms ONLY. This is strictly enforced as both parties could be penalized by the local authorities.

  • At this time, although we love animals, the guest suites are not pet-friendly. Emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are not permitted. The only dogs allowed are service dogs. Please read 'SERVICE DOGS' section below for additional information.

  • There is no elevator and no bellhop.

  • Quiet hours (indoors and outdoors) begin at 10pm. Please respect your fellow guests and our neighbors.

  • Maximum occupancy is 2 guests per room except for our double queen which can accommodates 2 at the standard rate but up to 4 for an additional $50/person per night. If a room with an occupancy of 2 guests is violated with more than 2 guests an additional $200 charge per night will be appied.

  • Heights House is strictly a gun-free, smoke-free, vape-free, drug-free property, indoors and outdoors. A $500 fee will be charged for each violation.

  • Guests must be 21 or older to book and a valid ID and credit card are required for booking.

  • Primary guest on reservation must be present at time of check-in with person identification. Reservations are non-transferable.

  • Check-in starts at 4pm. Check-out is by 11 am. If you need early or late check-outs please email us (stay@heightshousenc.com) and we can add hours for an additional fee. (35/hr fee.)

  • Wax candles are not permitted in the rooms. Flameless, battery operated candles are allowed.

  • Heights House partners with several licensed and insured massage therapists and estheticians for onsite sessions. We do not allow guests to book onsite massages not through the hotel. To submit a massage request you can do so here. / To submit a facial request you can do so here.

  • Heights House is not liable to damages done to any vehicles or other personal property located on our property at any time during your stay.

  • Lost room keys are subject to a minimum $500 fee. For security and safety of future guests, we must replace room and main door locks if a key is lost.

  • Due to the historical setting of Heights House, please contact us directly to inquire about our ADA-friendly accommodations and services.


CANCELLATIONS


The following policies apply for individual bookings made directly with us through Website, Phone or Email. We are a small hotel with only 9 rooms. Please keep that in mind when booking and read through our policies closely. Although we would like to, we can not make any exceptions to the policies below. Including cancellations due to weather, COVID or other illnesses. If you are worried that you may have to make a last minute cancellation due to ANY reason, please make sure to book the flexible rate or purchase third party travel insurance.


BEST AVAILABLE RATE:
Charged at 4pm EST 14 days prior to check-in date. Reservations must be canceled by 4 pm EST 14 days in advance to avoid a penalty of 100 percent of the stay.


FLEXIBLE RATE:
Charged at 4pm EST 14 days prior to check-in date. Booking may be canceled up to 4pm EST 3 days in advance to avoid a penalty of 100 percent of the stay.


CORPORATE RATE:
Charged 50% at time of booking. (non-refundable for any reason) Booking may be canceled up to 24 hours in advance of check-in to avoid penalty of remaining 50% of the stay.


ALL DISCOUNTED RATES:
Charged at time of booking and are non-refundable.


Please note: Different cancellation policies may apply when reservation was made via a 3rd party booking service (e.g. Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia). Those bookings must be cancelled through the applicable provider, and cannot be cancelled through us.


DAMAGES


Guests are responsible for all damage to the room, other than the ‘normal wear and tear’, which occurs during the term of their occupancy.


Guests authorize management to charge the cost to repair such damage to the guest credit card - including but not limited to VOMIT or any extra cleaning than normal, fixing or replacing, upholstery, furniture, rugs, floors, walls, fixtures, and destroyed or excessively soiled towels, linens and other soft goods.


SERVICE DOGS


Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Heights House would like to remind you that:



  • Emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are not considered service animals under the ADA. These terms are used to describe animals that provide comfort just by being with a person. Because they have not been trained to perform a specific job or task, they do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. Although some State or local governments have laws that allow people to take emotional support animals into public places. North Carolina does not. Refunds for stays will not be issued for guests who arrive with an ESA animal.

  • As permitted by the ADA, hotel staff has the right to ask the following questions. If possible, please send answers to us ahead of arrival to make the check-in process better for you and our staff.
    (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
    (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform?

  • Service Animals may not be left unattended at any time.

  • Service animals must be leased at all times unless they need to be unleashed to perform the tasks they are trained to perform for persons with disabilities.

  • Under the ADA, no hotel can charge an extra fee for the service animal. This also means you and your dog will be allowed in public areas of the hotel, as well as to a room and floors not normally designated for people traveling with pets.

  • Hotels are not permitted to charge guests for cleaning the hair or dander shed by a service animal. However, if a guest’s service animal causes damages to a guest room, a hotel is permitted to charge the same fee for damages as charged to other guests.

  • If a service animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it, staff may request that the animal be removed from the premises.

GROUP BOOKINGS & EVENTS



  • Bookings of 4 or more rooms are subject to our Group Booking Terms & Conditions and must be pre-approved by management. Please email stay@heightshousenc.com or call 919-594-1881 to inquire about availability of group bookings.

  • No bachelor/bachelorette parties are allowed unless it is a full property buyout.

  • For any event or large gathering, it must be coordinated with our events team. Events@HeightsHouseNC.com
